A beginner can expect a very informal first lesson where we talk about the type of music you would like to learn and then get stuck into the layout of the guitar as well as a few simple chords. You really have nothing to worry about before coming for your first lesson, you will relax straight into learning the guitar once you are here.
For more advanced guitarists we will talk about the aspects of your playing that you want to improve and begin to concentrate on helping you reach that next level. I have plenty of music here that we can play through but you are more than welcome to bring music from home for us to start working on.
The majority of my students take a one hour lesson once a week, with a few taking lessons every other week. It is totally up to you how frequent you would like your guitar lessons to be, I am completely flexible and will work around you. I teach both at my home studio here in Sunderland as well as tutoring students in the comfort of their own homes - I am happy to travel to you if you are interested. I have found from experience that for younger students under 12 years of age a half hour lesson once a week works best.
